Kip “Kippy” Jordan is inducted into the Maine Soccer Hall of Fame in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to soccer through excellence, longevity, and faithful service to the game.

Kippy’s playing accomplishments place him among the most distinguished figures in Maine’s soccer community. At Monroe Community College, he earned Junior College All-America honors, led his team to the 1971 national championship game, and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Offensive Player.

He continued his standout career at Cornell University, developing into one of the finest collegiate players in the country. During his two varsity seasons, Cornell posted a 21-8-2 record and secured two NCAA Tournament appearances, with the 1972 squad advancing all the way to the national semifinals. Kippy earned All-America recognition in both seasons at Cornell, culminating in First-Team All-America honors in 1973. A two-time First-Team All-Ivy League and First-Team All-New York State selection, he served as co-captain and MVP as a senior before representing Cornell in the national East-West Soccer Bowl.

His collegiate success carried directly into the professional ranks, as he was selected in the first round of the 1974 North American Soccer League draft by the Miami Toros. Kippy went on to play professionally as a defender for the Miami Toros, the Rochester Lancers, and the Buffalo Blazers across both outdoor and indoor competition.

Kippy’s impact on soccer only grew after his professional playing days concluded. Bringing his high-level knowledge and experience to Maine, he served as a respected match official. On the field, his presence, composure, and deep understanding of the game elevated the standard of play for generations of Maine athletes.

Few individuals match Kippy’s complete soccer journey as an elite collegiate standout, a professional defender, and a dedicated referee. For his extraordinary achievements, lifelong dedication, and lasting contributions to the sport, the Maine Soccer Hall of Fame proudly welcomes Kip “Kippy” Jordan.
