Increased interest in Soccer
“Perhaps you’ve noticed the increased enthusiasm for soccer in Maine schools during the past couple of years. Starting in the Smaller schools, the game rapidly grew popular and is now a major sport at Bowdoin, Bates, and Colby colleges. Teacher colleges and prep schools have adopted the sport, and it could spread out into the high schools of the State. We know little about the game, but understand it is packed with thrilling action, inexpensive to maintain, and gives more boys an opportunity to burn off that extra energy”
