About the Maine Soccer Hall of Fame

The launch of a Maine Soccer Hall of Fame was a collaborative effort among Dave Hamel, John Morgan, Michael Jeffrey, and Loren Peters. 

After an initial conversation between Jeffrey and Morgan, the organization’s first Zoom meeting in December 2023 also included Hamel and Peters. That small group of stakeholders gradually grew and became more formal throughout 2024, until the Board of Directors consisted of fifteen directors who represented six different Maine-based soccer organizations and representative groups.

In 2025, the Board of Directors met three times to finalize its nomination processes, discuss nominees, and ultimately vote on its first inaugural induction class of eleven coaches and players, three referees, and one team. 

That inaugural Class of 2025 will be inducted at ceremonies on Sunday, December 7.
